Zero WR?
The algorithm is seeing a trend in ADP this season. WRs are going higher as a class than ever before.

So you’d think this is the year to make sure to grab one in the first round? Well, actually the opposite.

Note: if your league is a 1pt PPR, then WRs are naturally valued higher. This strategy assumes NO PPR or .5 pt PPR but still applies in all cases.

Since ADP and default draft orders in your league’s draft will present WRs higher on the board this year, the move is to skip WRs completely for the first three rounds.

Why do this?

Well, because of some very high value, low cost WRs that are going in much later rounds.

For example, the following WRs are going in later rounds but project to lead their team in receptions (their current ADP listed):

Donte Moncrief 4.08
Jordan Mathews 5.10
Marvin Jones 6.08
John Brown 6.11
Tyler Lockette 7.01
Kamar Aiken 9.08
Torrey Smith 9.10
Devin Funchess 10.04
Tajae Sharpe 13.01

(also like Kevin White 8.04)

….so you see you can wait until the 6th round even to grab a pair of strong WR2s with WR1 upside.

Meanwhile, bell-cow RBs are a commodity.

Here are the “bell-cow” RBs and the rounds they are going in:

Todd Gurley 1.05
David Johnson 1.05
Adrian Peterson 1.09
Zeke Elliott 1.12
Lamar Miller 1.11
Le’Veon Bell 2.01
LeSean Mccoy 2.11
Lat Murray 4.01
Carlos Hyde 4.06

…you get the idea. Heavy load RBS get thin after the second round.

So…going RB/RB in the first two rounds is the move this year, then scoop down and maybe even grab an elite TE in the third to offset the PPR burden (elite = Jordan Reed, Greg Olsen, Gronk) and then in the 4th grab a QB (ONLY in 6pt per pass TD leagues) or your first WR.

Personally I’d like to come into the 5th round with two stud RBs, one flex RB, an elite TE and a QB…all before I start scooping up WRs.
