7/16/2011: Brand new data from fantasyomatic.com. This is the second article in a series about Red Zone Scoring and fantasy football strategy.
In this installment, we are looking at 2010 NFL defenses and the Red Zone Scores they allowed. Then we take that data and apply it to each Offensive Fantasy player position and determine a Red Zone Scoring Strength of Schedule for 2011.
Simply put: How easy will it be for each Team Offense to score in the Red Zone against all their 2011 Opponents.
We also added some data on each Team’s Red Zone Performance from 2010, to help you see which teams are most likely to take advantage of these defenses.
LEGEND:
RZTD%: (Offense) The percentage of time the Team listed scored a TD in 2010 when in their opponents Red Zone. (Tells you how likely they are to score in the RZ)
OppRZAtt: (Opposing Defenses) The total number of Red Zone Scoring Attempts that their 2011 Opponents gave up based on 2010 data. (Tells you how likely they are to get Red Zone Scoring Attempts this fantasy season)
OppRZScores: (Opposing Defenses) The total number of Red Zone Scores that their 2011 Opponents gave up based on 2010 data. (Tells you how likely they are to get Red Zone Scores this fantasy season)
OppRZScores%: (Opposing Defenses) The percentage of Red Zone Scores that their 2011 Opponents gave up vs Red Zone Scoring Attempts based on 2010 data. (Tells you how likely they are to get Red Zone Scores this fantasy season)
Simply put: Sort (Descending) by “OppRZScores”. The teams at the top have the easiest Red Zone Scoring Schedule in 2011. Those are teams whose Offensive Fantasy Players will likely have more chances to score. Teams at the bottom are least likely to score in the red zone.
